incolnshire real estate executive John Cooper has purchased Michael Jordan's Chicago-area mansion for $9.5 million. The 56,000-square-foot property at 2700 Point Lane in Highland Park was first listed by the NBA Hall of Famer for $29 million over a decade ago. Cooper, a partner at HAN Capital, bought the house on December 10.
Cooper has lived in the Chicago area for more than 10 years and recalls seeing news of Jordan listing the house in 2012. He's already hosted his birthday party at the mansion and met with contractors to make repairs and upgrades. The property features a full-size basketball court, putting green, cigar room, workout room, nine bedrooms, and 15.5 bathrooms.
The buyer has been revealed as John Cooper, a 42-year-old real estate executive from Lincolnshire. He purchased the house for $9.5 million, significantly lower than the original asking price of $29 million. The mansion's sale comes after nearly a decade on the market, with Jordan lowering the price to $14.855 million in 2015 before finally selling it to Cooper.
Cooper has expressed enthusiasm about owning the iconic property, which is a popular tourist destination in Highland Park. However, it remains unclear what he plans to do with the house or whether he will retain the famous "23" on the front gate.
