Texas Realtors' Campaign Donations to Harris, Trump Since June Revealed

Texans make last-minute campaign contributions to support favored candidates in the final stretch of the election cycle.

T
exans in real estate are making last-minute campaign contributions to support their preferred candidates as the election cycle nears its end. While many high-profile donors stuck to traditional PAC donations, Elon Musk's unconventional approach has generated significant attention. In addition to a $118 million contribution to America PAC, which supports Trump, Musk pledged $1 million daily to gun rights and free speech advocates.

Some notable real estate figures have made substantial contributions in the final stretch of the election cycle. Harlan Crow, whose gifts to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas drew scrutiny last year, donated $1.2 million to Republican challengers to former President Trump before his donations dried up in June. His sister, Lucy Billingsley, contributed over $44,000 to WinRed, a Republican PAC.

The Crow family's political sympathies are complex, with Harlan and Lucy supporting Republicans while their nephew, George Billingsley, has donated over $410,000 to Democratic PACs. Ross Perot Jr., another Dallas developer, gave almost $167,000 to Nikki Haley during the primaries but also contributed $100,000 directly to Trump's PAC in the final months.

Mehrdad Moayedi, who purchased a $10 million private jet from former President Trump, donated an additional $100,000 to Trump's election PAC between June and October. His company, Centurion American, has seen significant growth in North Texas, mirroring his increasing political contributions. Richard Weekley, co-founder of David Weekley Homes, injected nearly $350,000 into Trump PACs since June but has also backed pro-development Democrat John Whitmire, who is now the mayor of Houston.
