A
luxury real estate broker and his identical twin brother appeared in a Florida courtroom Thursday on charges of sexual assault, while their other brother faces federal sex trafficking allegations. Oren and Alon Alexander, both 37, were held without bond by Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer until a hearing Friday to determine bail. Their attorney, Joel Denaro, plans to argue that they are not flight risks.
The brothers' co-founder, Tal Alexander, appeared in a Miami federal courtroom Wednesday on the sex trafficking indictment involving all three. He will have a bail hearing Friday, with prosecutors seeking pretrial detention and Denaro seeking bail. None of the brothers have entered a plea to the charges yet.
Federal prosecutors allege that the Alexander brothers used their wealth and influence to take advantage of victims during a period from 2010 to 2021. They allegedly drugged, sexually assaulted, and raped dozens of women, using deception, fraud, and coercion to entice them into situations where they were vulnerable.
At Thursday's hearing, Oren Alexander asked the judge for release on bail due to his wife's pregnancy, but was denied. Denaro argued that Oren is not a flight risk. Prosecutors say the victims were often provided with drugs, including cocaine and GHB, and some were surreptitiously drugged before being assaulted.
In one Florida case, a woman reported being gang-raped at Alon Alexander's apartment in 2016 after attending a barbecue invitation that turned out to be a setup. In another incident, a woman said she was sexually assaulted by Oren Alexander at his apartment in 2017 after being given a glass of wine that made her feel weak and unable to control her body.
