airport, a small village in Western New York with around 5,400 residents, has emerged as one of the country's most competitive housing markets. According to Redfin's analysis of 2025's hottest neighborhoods, Fairport ranks fourth nationwide, joining elite company alongside urban hubs like Brooklyn's Prospect Heights and San Francisco's Polk Gulch.
Located on the Erie Canal, just 15 minutes from Rochester, Fairport has seen a remarkable surge in demand for its tree-lined streets and waterfront charm. In January and February 2025, 81% of homes sold above listing price, with a median sale price of $350,000 – a 9.4% increase from the previous year.
Fairport's meteoric rise reflects broader trends in Monroe County, which includes nearby Rochester and was recently named New York's top housing market. The village's public school system is highly rated, and its social scene occasionally features celebrity sightings, such as comedian Jimmy Fallon at Mulconry's Irish Pub.
"Like the Rochester real estate market overall, demand in Fairport is strong and inventory is low," said local Redfin agent Kimberly Hogue. "Most homes sell for more than their list price and get snatched up in under a week."
