Virginia Association of Realtors leader steps down after tenure ends

Commonwealth organization comprises 36,000 members from diverse backgrounds.

fter a decade-long tenure, Terrie Suit is stepping down as CEO of Virginia Realtors, the state's largest trade organization. Suit, who began her career as a Realtor in 1985 before transitioning to mortgage lending for 21 years, has led the organization since September 2013.

    Suit expressed confidence in the organization's mission and its ability to help Virginians achieve homeownership. She looks forward to seeing Virginia Realtors continue to advocate for its members, promote a healthy real estate market, and protect property owners' interests as it grows.

    Under Suit's leadership, the association has made significant progress, according to 2024 president Tom Campbell. He credits her with advocating for homeowners across the state and passing legislation that benefits the industry.

    Martin Johnson, who has held various roles within Virginia Realtors, including chief external-affairs officer, will serve as interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found. The organization represents over 36,000 members involved in residential and commercial real estate throughout Virginia.
