Watertown Council Approves Land Transfer and Sewer Easement Agreement

Watertown City Council Approves Resolution for Conveyance of City-Owned Real Estate and Utility Easement

I
n a unanimous decision, the Watertown City Council greenlit two key transactions during its Monday night meeting. The council authorized the transfer of a 3.08-acre plot in East Acres to the Watertown Development Company (WDC), paving the way for Kampeska Builders' development plans. This parcel, situated within Block 4, will be repurposed into contractor shops and/or storage facilities, aligning with the area's existing use patterns.

The city attorney, Lisa Carrico, presented the proposal, noting that Compesa Builders had initially expressed interest in the property. However, the WDC will facilitate Kampeska Builders' purchase, ensuring a seamless transaction. The remaining city land to the south will remain available for future Parks and Recreation projects.

Carrico recommended separate motions for the real estate conveyance and sanitary sewer easement agreement. The council approved Resolution 2512, authorizing the transfer of the property to WDC, with the interim city manager empowered to execute necessary documents. This motion passed unanimously.

The second motion concerned the sanitary sewer utility easement agreement with Kampeska Builders, LLC. Carrico clarified that this agreement is contingent upon the successful closing of the real estate transaction between WDC and Kampeska Builders. Additionally, Kampeska Builders' development plans are subject to obtaining a conditional use permit from the Board of Adjustment, which will be considered at an upcoming meeting on Thursday.

The council approved both transactions unanimously, with Carrico's guidance ensuring a smooth execution process for the city.
