The Bavarian architecture scene is celebrating an anniversary this year: the "Architektouren" of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects are marking their 30th edition. This annual event, held at the end of June, offers insights into leading examples of architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, and urban planning across all Bavarian administrative districts. To kick off this year's Architektouren, the preview exhibition featuring exemplary state or state-funded projects was opened in the foyer of the Ministry of Construction. The opening was overseen by Bavaria's Minister of Construction, Christian Bernreiter, and the President of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects, Professor Lydia Haack.
The Architektouren will take place this year on 27 and 28 June. A total of 199 projects, selected by an independent panel of experts, will be presented. These construction projects demonstrate creative approaches, careful use of resources, and the design of liveable spaces. They illustrate the essential contribution of architecture and urban development to a sustainable society in Bavaria.
Statements and Focus of the Exhibition
Minister of Construction Bernreiter emphasised that the Architektouren demonstrate over three decades how high-quality planning and construction shape the region. He stressed that, in the current phase, the construction industry requires reliable framework conditions and new impetus. The goal is to make building simpler, more resource-efficient, faster, and more cost-effective, which the Architektouren have proven to be achievable. Bernreiter expressed his delight at the Free State's participation with 62 projects, thereby fulfilling its exemplary role.
Chamber President Haack underscored that, in view of climate change, housing shortages, and discussions about public spaces, a society is needed that recognises and demands quality. The Architektouren have contributed to this for thirty years by fostering dialogue and visualising and making tangible high-quality, climate-competent planning and design.

The exhibition opening was complemented by the presentation of noteworthy projects in urban development and housing promotion in Penzberg, Tirschenreuth, and Rosenheim. This included a retrospective on the first Architektouren in 1996, insights into solutions for high-quality and affordable housing, and examples of the contemporary repurposing of historical, urban heritage. The exhibition focuses on the 62 state or state-funded projects that are part of this year's Architektouren. It features innovative and sustainable construction methods, architectural concepts for contemporary and accessible living, and high-quality urban and landscape planning revitalisations of urban spaces.
The exhibition is accessible until and including Friday, 17 July 2026, Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:00, in the foyer of the Ministry of Construction, Franz-Josef-Strauß-Ring 4, 80539 Munich.
