Aroundtown's scale-up programme AtechX is expanding its international platform to include Scandinavian residential construction company JM. The collaboration is intended to facilitate access to technologies and business models from the international start-up sector for residential development. At the same time, the agreement provides young technology companies with the opportunity to apply and further develop field-tested solutions directly within JM's property portfolio.
The cooperation centres on joint pilot projects, operational partnerships and potential equity investments in selected technology companies. In terms of content, the partners are focusing on methods to increase process efficiency, shorten lead times and reduce the use of materials and resources in residential construction projects. Particular emphasis is placed on circular building materials with low carbon emissions, innovative energy systems and tools for automating planning and construction workflows.
Real-world testbeds for construction and planning innovations
The AtechX programme runs for four months and brings emerging companies together with established real estate industry players. New technologies are tested under real-world conditions in actual properties, ranging from residential schemes and office complexes to hotel assets and property management operations. Experienced industry representatives support participants in aligning their products with genuine market requirements.
Angie Mahtaney, Principal of the AtechX team, emphasised that joining forces with JM combines profound operational experience in residential construction with an interest in future-proof technologies. Direct dialogue between established market participants and founders accelerates the transfer of innovative approaches into actual construction practice. Johan Wiksell, Head of Ventures at JM, highlighted that technological innovations are essential for a resource-efficient and commercially viable construction sector, and that the partnership aims to create long-term value for day-to-day operations.

Participating start-ups have access not only to Aroundtown's European portfolio but also to the properties of renowned partner companies. With JM joining, additional core expertise in the Scandinavian residential construction sector is integrated into the network.
