The international business law firm Osborne Clarke is expanding its European presence by opening a new office in Frankfurt am Main. From 1 September 2024, the firm will be represented by an office at Bockenheimer Landstraße 39. This strategic decision responds to growing client demand for specialised advice in the areas of Private Capital and financing transactions, which extend beyond Europe to include the United Kingdom, the USA, and Asia.

Frankfurt am Main was chosen as the location because the city is considered a leading European centre for banking, finance, and technology. With the European Central Bank and other significant regulatory authorities, Frankfurt is a central hub in the European private capital ecosystem. The new branch is intended to enhance Osborne Clarke's ability to provide comprehensive support to clients – from fund structuring, acquisitions, and financing to M&A transactions and complex transformation and reorganisation processes. The opening coincides with Osborne Clarke's 25th anniversary in Germany.

Focus on Transaction Expertise

The Frankfurt office will open with Partner Johannes Goossens, who joins Osborne Clarke on 1 September 2024. Mr Goossens comes from White & Case, where he worked as a Local Partner in the global private equity and M&A practice. His expertise lies in complex private equity and M&A transactions, particularly in the technology and financial sectors, as well as in cross-border matters. With the new location, the firm intends to create an integrated platform for cross-border mandates.

Nicolas Gabrysch, Managing Partner of Osborne Clarke Germany, commented on the strategic importance of the new office, emphasising the convergence of capital, technology, regulation, and industry in Frankfurt. He stated that the opening of the new location meets the desire of many clients to receive even better support with strategic transactions, financing processes, and complex transformation projects. Johannes Goossens stressed that the move to Frankfurt offers the opportunity to provide genuine added value to clients operating across borders with an integrated team and consistent advisory quality.

Phased Development and Long-Term Goals

The development of the Frankfurt office is planned in several phases. In an initial step, a focused team of up to 20 lawyers will be established. This team will be supplemented by the regular presence of other partners from the existing German network. In the long term, a significant expansion of the presence is planned to further deepen advisory services in this important financial centre. This development underscores Osborne Clarke's efforts to consolidate and expand its position in one of Europe's most dynamic markets.
