GreenAutarky GmbH, a technology company from Berlin, documented energy savings of up to 29 percent in a real-world living situation. This was achieved through the implementation of an AI-supported heating control system during ongoing operation. The results obtained are based on continuously collected operating data from the apartment. This development highlights the significant potential available in existing building stock for efficiency improvements without requiring extensive structural interventions or the immediate replacement of heating systems.

This offers owners and housing companies the opportunity to initially reduce their properties' energy consumption. Simultaneously, reliable consumption data is generated, which can serve as a basis for economically rational modernisation decisions. The optimisation performance provided by Artificial Intelligence (AI) can continue to be used even after a potential heating system modernisation to sustainably ensure efficiency.

Efficiency reserves in existing buildings

Discussions about the heating transition often focus on renewing system technology. Nevertheless, significant efficiency reserves remain untapped in numerous properties. GreenAutarky's solution, which is referred to as an AI butler for properties, ensures continuous optimisation of heating operations. This happens based on actual operating conditions, with heat distribution continuously adjusted to current needs. The measured savings were not achieved under laboratory conditions or through theoretical model calculations, but under real usage conditions in occupied units.

A core element of the system is continuous hydraulic balancing. GreenAutarky's technology constantly reacts to changes both in the entire building and within individual apartments. These dynamic factors include modified usage habits of residents, changing weather conditions, tenant changes, or adjustments to the installed heating system. Additionally, a regular balancing of individual apartments with each other takes place to permanently optimise heat distribution and thus ensure consistently high efficiency.
