The redevelopment of the company's site planned by Rohde & Schwarz at Ostbahnhof is the subject of a development plan procedure by the City of Munich. The Department for Urban Planning and Building Regulations therefore invited the public to a discussion event. Representatives of the city and the planning architectural firm explained the details of development plan with green space regulations no. 2201.
The plans were presented at the Mittelschule am Echardinger Grünstreifen. The event offered attendees the opportunity to inform themselves comprehensively about the project and to submit suggestions. The Department for Urban Planning and Building Regulations made the plans available for inspection both physically and digitally.
Details of the Project
The planning area, approximately one hectare in size, borders the northern part of the Werksviertel. The underlying design results from a preceding ideas and realisation competition. It envisages the construction of a compact building structure, primarily designed for office and administrative spaces, as well as for laboratory, research, and development areas.
The buildings comprise five storeys and their height is aligned with the existing surrounding buildings. A prominent element of the new operational premises is an approximately 65-metre-high building, which will be centrally located on Mühldorfstraße. The entire plan aims to secure the site quality of Rohde & Schwarz in Munich and to optimise the infrastructure for future technological developments.
Transparency in the Procedure
The public displays of the planning documents occurred multiple times and at various locations. In addition to the documents on the digital participation platform "Bauleitplanung Online München", interested parties could also view the documents at the Department for Urban Planning and Building Regulations, as well as at the District Inspectorate East and the Bogenhausen City Library. This comprehensive access to information underscores the commitment of the parties involved to a transparent planning procedure.
The redevelopment of the Rohde & Schwarz site is an essential component of the continuous development of the Werksviertel and contributes to strengthening Munich as a technology hub. The realignment of the company premises reflects the requirements for modern working and research conditions and emphasises the necessity of flexible space utilisation concepts in urban locations.
