Strategic consolidation of core markets in eastern Germany
The international real estate services provider CBRE is implementing a structural realignment in its Industrial & Logistics Leasing division. The Berlin and Leipzig regions, which were previously managed separately, are being brought together into a single market area. In doing so, the firm is aligning its advisory activities more closely with the growing economic ties between both locations and the cross-regional requirements of institutional and commercial clients.
The reorganisation focuses on combining in-depth local market knowledge and pooling existing contacts. By coordinating coverage across both metropolitan areas, CBRE also intends to deepen its occupier network. On this basis, the company plans to unlock additional growth potential in the industrial and logistics segment across the two metropolitan regions.
- —Pooling of market knowledge and contact networks across both regions
- —Targeted expansion of relationships on the occupier side
- —Unlocking additional growth potential in the shared economic area
- —Broadening flexible location options for prospective tenants
Leadership and operational development
Leadership of the joint leasing team will be assumed by Frank Schönfelder. Schönfelder, who serves as Senior Director at CBRE, was previously responsible for the Leipzig market area. He brings extensive market expertise, many years of leadership experience and an established industry network to the overarching role.
Sarina Schekahn, Head of Industrial & Logistics Leasing Germany at CBRE, stated that the merger creates the foundation to strategically expand the firm's market position in both submarkets. She noted that, under Schönfelder's leadership, the newly formed team is ideally positioned to achieve this objective.
Schönfelder himself emphasised that the respective teams had already collaborated closely across regional borders in the past. This cooperation will now be built upon to present clients with additional location alternatives. The primary goal is to unite the strengths of both hubs and further develop the joint market territory.
