The Steigenberger Hotel Herrenhof Vienna has recently become part of the curated collection brand Steigenberger Icons and will henceforth be known as Steigenberger Icon Herrenhof Wien. This inclusion expands the portfolio of Steigenberger Icons with another renowned address. The hotel meets the collection's criteria, which include an outstanding location, distinctive architecture, and a close connection to the cultural identity of the respective city. The integration of the Herrenhof strengthens the presence of Steigenberger Icons in European metropolises and underscores the collection's focus on distinctive properties with specific history and local roots.
Historical Roots and Architecture
The property is located in Vienna's 1st district, in close proximity to the Hofburg Palace and Kohlmarkt. This location has been an integral part of the city's social and cultural life for over a century. The neoclassical facade of the building once housed Café Herrenhof, an established meeting point for Vienna's literary scene. Figures such as Robert Musil, Joseph Roth, and Franz Werfel were among the guests of this historic venue. The decision to include it in the Steigenberger Icons collection is based on the existing qualities of the establishment, namely its prominent location, characteristic architecture, deep history, unmistakable character, and high service standards. No structural repositioning is planned in this context.
Elisabeth Perwanger, Cluster General Manager Steigenberger Icons and Austria, stated that the Herrenhof had long met the requirements for a Steigenberger Icon. She highlighted its location in the heart of Vienna, its special architecture, and the building's cultural heritage as identity-forming elements. This step is therefore a natural development and an acknowledgement of the long-standing achievements of the hotel and its team.
Service Concept and Portfolio
The guest experience at the Steigenberger Icon Herrenhof Wien will be progressively enhanced with additional service elements. These include the introduction of a personal concierge and guest relations service, a more prominent presentation of the hotel's history, and the expansion of the culinary offering with specialities such as the Iconic High Tea. These measures aim to complement the hotel's existing character and to combine its Viennese identity with the service and quality standards of Steigenberger Icons.
With the integration of the Herrenhof, the Steigenberger Icons collection now comprises eight hotels. These include the Steigenberger Icon Europäischer Hof in Baden-Baden, the Steigenberger Icon Frankfurter Hof in Frankfurt, the Steigenberger Icon Parkhotel in Düsseldorf, the Steigenberger Icon Grandhotel & Spa Petersberg in Königswinter, the Steigenberger Icon Grandhotel Handelshof in Leipzig, the Steigenberger Icon Wiltcher’s in Brussels, and the Steigenberger Icon Grandhotel Belvédère in Davos. This expansion underscores the focus on exclusive properties in prominent European locations.
