The temporary creative project “zwischen dings” has launched in Munich-Giesing. It is located at Tegernseer Landstraße 80 and serves as a multifunctional art, work, and event space. The project aims for the active integration of the public into artistic processes and establishes an open space for exchange, knowledge transfer, and collaborative work.
The initiative is planned for a period of six months. An interdisciplinary team of seven creative professionals from Munich is responsible for its implementation. By combining studio, gallery, workshop, and event areas, new interfaces between art production, cultural mediation, and social participation are intended to emerge.
Project Structure and Objectives
The design of the location enables the immediate visibility and experience of artistic creation. Concurrently, workshops, artist talks, co-working formats, and other events are intended to foster continuous interaction between artists, residents, and the wider public. The project represents a response to structural challenges within Munich's art and creative sector, particularly the shortage of adequate and affordable spaces for work, presentation, and gathering.
The temporary and collectively organised use creates a place accessible not only to the initiating team but also to external artists and creatives from the existing network.
Funding and Overarching Initiative
The municipal funding institution Kreativ München supports the project “zwischen dings”. Funding is provided in cooperation with the Department of Culture as part of the Fund for Innovative Cultural Interim Use, with a sum of 5,285 EUR. Kreativ München operates as a cross-departmental team, supported by the Department of Municipal Services, the Department of Culture, and the Department for Labour and Economic Development. The initiative is geared towards strengthening Munich's cultural and creative industries and serves as a central point of contact for all entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals active in this sector.
The overarching goal is to improve the framework conditions for the cultural and creative industries across all eleven of their sub-markets along the entire value chain. The Kreativ München team offers advisory services for business-related questions, organises qualification formats, promotes networking, increases the sector's visibility, and assists with international market development and the search for affordable spaces.
