Office provider 1000 Satellites is continuing its expansion in south-west Germany and has opened its first location in Karlsruhe in the historic Malzwerk on the iWerkX campus at Rintheimer Strasse 23. Across a total floor area of around 2,500 square metres, flexible workspaces set within historic industrial architecture are available to companies and project teams. Use of the space began back in July, while the official opening is scheduled for 19 November.
The company deliberately distinguishes itself from traditional coworking offerings, placing functional working environments for focused tasks and in-person interaction at the forefront. The spatial layout at the Malzwerk comprises 14 flexibly usable office units as well as four conference and event rooms. The latter can also be booked by external businesses for conferences, seminars and client meetings. The workstations are ergonomically designed in accordance with applicable workplace regulations and are complemented by on-site services.
Regional networking and decentralised working locations
With the new location, the operator is expanding beyond its previous focus in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region to create a coherent offering across the south-west. Frank Moersch, General Manager South-West at 1000 Satellites, emphasises that the objective is to build an intelligent network of workspaces that meets the demands of modern businesses. Federico Morales, Business Development Manager South-West, notes that a flawless technical infrastructure requiring zero set-up effort is particularly decisive for occupier productivity.
According to co-founder and managing director Gregory von Abendroth, the traditional model of the central large-scale office involving daily commutes is increasingly losing relevance. Viable concepts for the future, he argues, are built on an interplay of decentralised locations close to where employees live. With its technology-oriented economic profile made up of established corporates, an innovative Mittelstand and start-ups, Karlsruhe offers ideal conditions for this transformation.
Initial space take-up prior to official opening
Even before the official inauguration, the new satellite has recorded its first firm space commitments. Early occupiers include the digital agency diva-e Conclusion, which occupies around 600 square metres in the Malzwerk. In addition, cerebricks, which already uses space at the Glueckstein location in Mannheim, is expanding its presence and providing flexible workstations in Karlsruhe's Malzwerk for staff from the region.
