On 13 August 2026, 12.18. Investment Management GmbH filed an application with the competent Düsseldorf Local Court for the opening of insolvency proceedings under self-administration. The court subsequently ordered provisional self-administration and appointed Dr. Jens M. Schmidt, lawyer, as provisional administrator. Managing Director Uwe Drangmeister will be supported by the KebekusPartner law firm during the proceedings.
The aim of the self-administration proceedings is to comprehensively review and reorganise the company's economic and financial structures and to establish a viable foundation for future development. These proceedings exclusively concern 12.18. Investment Management GmbH, which currently employs five people. The other companies of the 12.18. group are legally independent and are not subject to these proceedings; their business operations will continue as normal.
Background and Framework Conditions
In the current market environment, which can be described as difficult, the company was recently no longer able to generate the liquidity required for continued business operations from partial sales in a timely manner. Following repeated structural and strategic adjustments in recent years, participations, financing structures, and existing courses of action will now be examined in detail within the framework of self-administration.
Uwe Drangmeister, Managing Director of 12.18. Investment Management GmbH, stated that self-administration creates the legal framework to review existing structures in an orderly manner and to make necessary decisions. The focus is on preserving existing values as best as possible. There will be no changes for customers, guests, and business partners of the operating companies; business operations will continue as usual and existing contacts and procedures will remain unchanged.
Self-administration as a Reorganisation Tool
Self-administration is a legally provided reorganisation tool. In these proceedings, the management remains in office and continues to run the company under legal supervision and guidance. The provisional administrator oversees the process in the interest of the creditors. The 12.18. group holds participations and projects particularly in the hotel, hospitality, real estate, and project development sectors.
