Atmosphere Core, a hotel company based in the Maldives, has completed the signing of an agreement for its tenth resort in the island nation. The new property, ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru An Atmosphere Hotel, Maldives, is scheduled to open in March 2027. It will be integrated into the existing Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts brand and positioned under the sub-brand “An Atmosphere Hotel”. This marks the first property in the ONE BANYAN series of co-branded island resorts in the Maldives and is intended to give the portfolio a distinct character.
Located in the Kaafu Atoll, ONE BANYAN Amaraa Faru will feature 118 beach and overwater pool villas. The resort will also offer four restaurants, an ELE|NA Ayur Spa, and an extensive range of leisure activities. Guests will be provided with a comprehensive “Holiday Plan” which includes meals, beverages, spa treatments, and selected activities. ONE BANYAN is conceived as a co-branding concept within Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts, aiming to unify the individual identities of the resorts while allowing each property to retain its own character.
The name “Amaraa Faru” combines cultural references: “Amaraa” is derived from the Sanskrit word for eternity or immortality, while “Faru” means “reef” in Dhivehi, establishing a connection to the underwater world. Salil Panigrahi, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Atmosphere Core, commented that demand for Maldives travel is increasing and diversifying, with travellers increasingly seeking stays that are both luxurious and individually tailored. Purchasing decisions are more frequently driven by the quality of experiences and less by mere amenities and services. With Amaraa Faru, the brand ethos “A New Experience Awaits” will be realised, addressing the changing demand. The resort is intended to combine generous and grounded sophistication, inspired by the natural rhythm, culture, and people of the islands.
As the first resort in the ONE BANYAN series, Amaraa Faru is designed to prioritise freedom and flexibility over formal luxury. As a sub-brand of “An Atmosphere Hotel”, it is shaped by its location and distinguished by a distinctive story, its own rhythm, and a sense of belonging. The concept targets free spirits and explorers, aiming to create inspiring and lasting experiences. The resort, which is the ninth worldwide for the Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts brand, promises enriching, immersive, and authentic moments. It is located in the Kaafu Atoll and is approximately 45 minutes by speedboat from Velana International Airport. The island is surrounded by lagoons of blue and green hues, and the “Holiday Plan” includes dining, wellness, snorkelling, and other tropical activities.
Amaraa Faru will introduce a new design language to the Atmosphere Hotels & Resorts portfolio. The design is inspired by the maritime world and traditional palm leaf craftsmanship, with coconut and palm fibres woven into functional art. This is reinterpreted with couture-like elegance, combining natural materials, locally influenced textures, and Art Deco accents with a colour palette of cream and green tones. The 118 villas include standard beach villas of 100 square metres, family beach villas of 164 square metres, and water villas of 117 square metres, all with private pools. The culinary offering will be complemented by an all-day dining restaurant, a poolside bar, and three speciality restaurants featuring, for example, Argentinian and Japanese cuisine.
Further facilities include a kids’ club, a gym with sea views, a diving and water sports centre, and a promenade with boutiques. The wellness area, operated by ELE|NA Ayur, comprises overwater treatment rooms, a 40 square metre saltwater pool, and sauna and steam baths. Technology will be integrated throughout the stay, with an intelligent, original, and sophisticated service culture at the forefront. In line with Atmosphere Core’s standards, Amaraa Faru will utilise solar energy and water-saving systems, pursue a plastic-free approach, and offer water from the island’s own bottling plant in glass bottles. Founded in 2013, Atmosphere Core hereby strengthens its presence.
