AXA XL has appointed Markus Posberg as Chief Underwriting Officer for Property, Construction and Energy in the APAC and Europe regions, effective immediately. This strategic appointment underscores the significance of these segments for the insurance company, especially given the increasing complexity and the need for specialised risk analysis in the market.
Adias Gerbaud, Chief Underwriting Officer for the APAC & Europe region at AXA XL, commented on the appointment. He highlighted that significant investments in energy and digital infrastructure, including the rapid growth of data centres, are creating a new generation of complex and interconnected property risks in Europe and the APAC region. Simultaneously, climate change is increasing the demands on the resilience of construction and energy projects. In this environment, companies are seeking specialised underwriting expertise, in-depth risk analyses, and a long-term partnership with their insurers to manage these risks.
Mr Gerbaud emphasised that Markus Posberg possesses extensive technical experience and the ability to build and inspire high-performing teams across borders. He expressed confidence that Posberg will strengthen AXA XL's capabilities in Property, Construction and Energy in Europe while supporting regional ambitions.
Expertise and previous activities
Laurent Richème, Global Chief Underwriting Officer, Property at AXA XL, added that the Property, Construction and Energy divisions are among the company's largest and most established business areas worldwide. The APAC & Europe region plays a key role for further growth. Richème explained that Posberg brings precisely the technical expertise and leadership qualities required in this area.
Markus Posberg, a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute (FCII), has over 30 years of experience in insuring complex commercial and industrial risks. His expertise extends to Property, Construction and Energy. He joined AXA Corporate Solutions in 2018 and has served as Head of Underwriting for Germany since 2021. In this role, he was responsible for the German Property, Construction and Energy portfolio. Prior to his time at AXA Corporate Solutions, he held senior underwriting and leadership positions at QBE, MONTAN and HD.
