Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier, a development by Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (URW) in Hamburg's HafenCity, is strengthening its technology portfolio with the addition of Dyson and Xiaomi. These new brands contribute to enhancing the tech profile of the retail and lifestyle destination and expand the existing offering with innovative products and experience-oriented brand concepts.
With these acquisitions, URW is responding to the trend of technology companies establishing their own monobrand concepts. Such concepts focus on physical brand experiences to make innovations immediately accessible, solidify brand presence, and intensify direct engagement with customers. Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is thus positioning itself as a relevant location for these developments in the retail sector.
Brand Presence of Dyson and Xiaomi
Dyson, a globally operating technology company with origins in Great Britain, specialising in innovative household and hair care appliances, will be represented with its own store in the quarter. For this, a retail space of approximately 100 square metres will be occupied in the 'Premium Loop' on the ground floor. The opening of this location is scheduled for early Q2 2027. This expansion deepens the existing cooperation between Dyson and URW, which already includes stores in Westfield Centro in Germany, Westfield Mall of the Netherlands, and Westfield Shopping City Süd in Austria.
Furthermore, Xiaomi, a leading provider of smartphones and networked consumer electronics, has been secured. The brand, whose product portfolio ranges from mobile devices to smart home technologies, will open its first store in Hamburg on a retail space of over 160 square metres in the basement. The opening is planned for 2026. Xiaomi is already present in other Westfield destinations, including Westfield Černý Most in the Czech Republic, as well as Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City in Great Britain.
Strategic Relevance for the Quarter
Robert Czafik, Senior Portfolio Manager, Leasing, Austria & Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier at URW, emphasised that with Dyson and Xiaomi, the technology profile of Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier is being specifically strengthened, and at the same time, existing successful partnerships are being expanded. He highlighted that Dyson stands for engineering and premium technology, while Xiaomi brings a broad portfolio of smartphones, consumer electronics, and smart home products to Hamburg. Each partner will showcase their brand world and enable visitors to experience innovations directly.
The new tenants complement the existing tech offering of the quarter, which includes the successful DJI | Hasselblad Store, focusing on camera and drone technology. With the upcoming openings, Westfield Hamburg-Überseequartier gains additional areas of expertise in the technology segment and solidifies its position as a hub for innovative brands and experience-oriented retail concepts within the forward-looking urban quarter. This quarter combines international and local retail, gastronomy, and entertainment concepts, as well as offices, residences, hotels, and a cruise terminal on the Elbe in the heart of HafenCity.
