KW-Development is realising an extensive project at the Business Campus Flugplatz Strausberg, the second construction phase of which has now reached an important milestone with the completion of 180 boarding apartments. These residential units have been available for rent since 1 October 2026. SKAJ Management GmbH, responsible for the letting and management of the apartments, presented the fully furnished properties to the public on 14 October 2026.
The event attracted over 90 participants from politics, business, and the surrounding region. Guests included Gernot Schmidt, District Administrator of the Märkisch-Oderland district, former Strausberg Mayor Elke Stadeler, Enrico Nickel, Head of Staff for Economic Development, Culture, and Tourism, and Irina Kühnel, Managing Director of Flugplatz Strausberg. Sarah Baeblich, Head of SKAJ Management GmbH, took the opportunity to emphasise the apartments' combination of functionality, quality, and thoughtful spatial design, which connects a nature-rich environment with direct access to the Berlin metropolitan region.
Amenities and Capacities
The presented one- to four-room apartments comprise living areas from 23 to 51 square metres. They are designed for short- to medium-term stays and are fully furnished. Each unit features a fitted kitchen, a private bathroom, a bed, a desk and dining table, and a wardrobe. Some of the apartments also have balconies. Residents have access to an in-house launderette with communal washing machines and tumble dryers. Parking spaces can also be rented if required. The remaining 220 planned apartments in this construction phase are expected to follow in spring 2027, bringing the total number to 400 units.
The location at Flugplatz Strausberg offers a quiet, nature-rich environment with direct transport links. The nearby Strausberg Nord S-Bahn station provides a direct connection to the S5 S-Bahn line, ensuring a quick link to Berlin. Shopping facilities, various leisure activities, and the necessary infrastructure are in close proximity to the campus. In this context, District Administrator Gernot Schmidt highlighted that the region is excellently prepared for investors wishing to invest in residential and social infrastructure, and that the district would provide support with administrative processes.
Comprehensive Project Development
Since 2023, KW-Development has been developing a commercial campus at Flugplatz 9 in Strausberg, which will comprise a total of eleven buildings and approximately 51,200 square metres of rental space. Of this, around 37,600 square metres will be office space and approximately 13,600 square metres will be for the boarding apartments. The first construction phase with three buildings, designated as 'Die Drillinge' (The Triplets), is already complete and fully leased to a federal institution. The now partially ready-for-occupancy boarding apartments are being built in the second construction phase. A third construction phase with two additional office buildings is planned. The four- to five-storey buildings are being realised in accordance with ESG standards and are equipped with underground car parks.
