The Neumarkt City Council approved the acquisition of the Employment Agency property at Mariahilfstraße 37 in a closed session. A corresponding purchase agreement was concluded with the Federal Employment Agency. This acquisition secures control over a strategically important property for the city and opens up prospects for future urban development.

The actual transfer of ownership is subject to conditions. It will take place after the Employment Agency has relocated to its new building on Kanalweg and the contractual property has been completely vacated. The latest date for this transfer is agreed as 1st July 2027. Until then, use of the property will remain with the current institution, which allows for an orderly handover and planning for the city.

Potential for educational and administrative facilities, as well as residential space

Mayor Markus Ochsenkühn commented on the diverse utilisation possibilities of the complex. He emphasised that the central location and good accessibility of the building offer excellent conditions for future-oriented use in the interest of the city's community. The property is ideally suited for functions that strengthen urban infrastructure and benefit citizens.

The considerations focus particularly on educational and administrative facilities. Modern learning, consulting, and working spaces could be created at this location, and administrative services could be consolidated and offered close to citizens. The accessibility and reachability of the location play a decisive role in the efficiency of such offerings.

Furthermore, the building structure and the plot of land are considered suitable for developing residential space. This would contribute to meeting local demand and round off urban development. The combination of different forms of use – from educational and administrative services to residential space – could play an important role in the sustainable development of Neumarkt.

  • Strategic site securing for the City of Neumarkt.
  • Potential for consolidating educational and administrative services.
  • Opportunity to create additional residential space.
  • Transfer of ownership by 1st July 2027 at the latest.

Markus Ochsenkühn highlighted that the versatile utilisation prospects underscore the site's potential to make a significant long-term contribution to the sustainable development of the city. He noted that the city has now secured the property and subsequent decisions on its specific use must be made strategically together with the City Council.
