Effective from 1 July 2026, DLA Piper has appointed three lawyers from within its own ranks as Counsel. This personnel decision aims to specifically strengthen the firm's expertise in the relevant segments of real estate law and white-collar crime.

Among the newly appointed Counsel is Dr. Lilian Gutkin, who operates from the Munich office and belongs to the established Real Estate practice group. Furthermore, Anna Lena Nowicki (Frankfurt) and Dr. Tobias Pielow (Hamburg) have been appointed to this position; both are members of the Litigation & Regulatory practice group. The current Counsel appointments follow the promotion of two partners on 1 May 2026 and reflect continuous development of the personnel cadre.

Real estate law and criminal law expertise

Dr. Lilian Gutkin specialises in comprehensive advice for national and international clients in real estate law. Her focus is on supporting complex real estate transactions, managing development projects, and structuring real estate financings. She possesses proven expertise in logistics properties and is also involved in infrastructure projects within the renewable energy sector.

Anna Lena Nowicki advises companies at national and international levels on all facets of white-collar crime. Her main areas of activity include representing aggrieved companies and providing support in official and judicial investigative proceedings. Another significant area of her work is conducting internal investigations for the systematic clarification and prevention of internal corporate irregularities. Additionally, she advises on criminal compliance matters.

Dr. Tobias Pielow possesses extensive experience in leading complex cross-border investigations. He advises national and international companies on managing white-collar crime and regulatory crisis situations, as well as on the strategic handling of significant compliance risks. His many years of experience also extend to corporate defence against national and international prosecution and supervisory authorities.

These promotions are part of a broader personnel development initiative. In addition to the three Counsel appointments, DLA Piper in Germany is promoting 36 other lawyers to Senior Associates. Dr. Jan Geert Meents, Country Managing Partner of DLA Piper in Germany, acknowledged the achievements made in this context. He emphasised that the promotions represent well-deserved recognition for the outstanding work of recent years and congratulated his colleagues on their career advancement.
