The duisport Group is continuing its strategic growth trajectory and has completed an acquisition of a stake in Maxi Terminal Hamm (MTH). This acquisition provides the company with access to one of the key logistics hubs in the eastern Ruhr area. This step specifically strengthens the connection of Westphalian industry to international markets. The Hamm location, which links the eastern Ruhr area with the Westphalian industrial centres, is characterised by optimal rail and road connections.

Maxi Terminal Hamm thus plays a central role in the hinterland network of Duisburg Port and is simultaneously a fundamental component of the LOG4NRW network. The latter aims to significantly shift freight transport to rail. The axis between Hamm and Duisburg is thereby developing into a central corridor for consolidated traffic from Westphalia, which is integrated into European logistics chains.

Markus Bangen, CEO of duisport, stated that the stake in Maxi Terminal Hamm expands collaboration with the Hamm location and strengthens an efficient rail axis. This axis connects two significant industrial and logistics sites efficiently and in an environmentally friendly manner. The successful rail connection between Duisburg and Hamm, as part of the LOG4NRW initiative, has provided a solid foundation for this for years. The stake in the terminal is, therefore, the logical next step.

With the integration of the terminal, duisport expands its existing network capacities. This leads to increased reliability for customers from industry and trade. At the same time, access to the international seaports of Rotterdam and Antwerp improves, further enhancing the appeal of the location. A specific feature of Maxi Terminal Hamm is its technical focus on handling heavy loading units weighing up to 75 tonnes. This specification particularly meets the requirements of the chemical industry and enables the efficient rail transport of special containers.

The completed acquisition in MTH significantly contributes to strengthening the regional infrastructure as well as European supply chains. Additional capacities in the hinterland solidify the role of Duisburg Port as an international gateway. The transaction includes a stake in both the infrastructure company Lanfer Immobilien GmbH & Co. KG and the operating company Maxi Terminal Hamm GmbH. duisport acquires 24.9 percent of the shares in the infrastructure company and 20 percent of the shares in the operating company.

Following the completion of the transaction, duisport holds 24.9 percent in the infrastructure company. The remaining 75.1 percent remain with Lanfer Holding GmbH & Co. KG. The future shareholder structure of the operating company is as follows:

  • Lanfer Transporte: 37.5 percent
  • Stadtwerke Hamm: 20 percent
  • duisport: 20 percent
  • DB Cargo BTT: 15 percent
  • Kombiverkehr: 7.5 percent
