The EBZ Business School is introducing a new Bachelor's degree programme titled "International Real Estate" for the winter semester 2026. This programme expands the university's existing portfolio of courses and is explicitly tailored to the demands of the international housing and real estate industry. The degree programme will be offered as a six-semester full-time course at the Bochum campus and aims to qualify students for positions in nationally and internationally operating companies within the real estate and investment sectors.
Graduates are to be prepared for roles in asset and portfolio management, project development, consulting firms, as well as in finance-related and institutional contexts. In terms of content, the degree programme addresses key challenges of an industry increasingly influenced by international market conditions, economic uncertainties, regulatory requirements, sustainability goals, and location-specific transformation processes. Students will acquire competencies for the well-founded analysis and evaluation of real estate projects and investment decisions throughout their entire lifecycle, considering economic, technical, legal, and international frameworks.
Curriculum and International Orientation
The curriculum of the degree programme covers diverse subject areas relevant to the global real estate industry. These include aspects of real estate finance, valuation methods, data management, legal fundamentals, controlling, project development, and a comprehensive consideration of international financial and real estate markets. Furthermore, topics related to energy management in buildings are covered.

These specialist contents are complemented by the teaching of scientific methods, interdisciplinary project work, and the fostering of communicative skills in an international environment. Some of the specialised modules will be taught in English. A compulsory semester abroad is an integral part of the degree programme. This international orientation is supported by the strategic expansion of the EBZ Business School's university network. Recent collaborations have been established with the Queensland University of Technology in Australia and the University of Prince Edward Island in Canada. According to Rector Professor Dr. Daniel Kaltofen, the new Bachelor's degree programme combines regional study with international ambitions, aspects that broaden the professional profile for career entry.
