The FIM Unternehmensgruppe, specialising in retail properties, has completed the first construction phase of the Hirschaid Retail Park (FMZ) in the market town of Hirschaid, in the Bamberg vicinity, after approximately one year of construction. This included the opening of an EDEKA supermarket and a Lidl supermarket. Both retail companies have significantly enlarged and modernised their premises in the new retail park.
The relocation of the supermarkets to the new Hirschaid Retail Park, situated on Industriestraße/In der Röthe, is associated with a significant expansion of the sales areas. The EDEKA supermarket, managed by an independent retailer, has expanded from 1,350 square metres to now 2,150 square metres. This expansion allows for a broader product range, a more spacious fresh produce section, and the integration of a bakery with a café in the entrance area. The Lidl supermarket increased its sales area by 550 square metres to approximately 1,400 square metres, resulting in a clearer merchandise layout and more space for the fresh produce assortment.
Sustainability and Site Development
The structural implementation of the retail park takes into account energy-efficient and sustainable aspects. The building is equipped with modern building services, features a green roof, and a photovoltaic system. Ample parking spaces are available in front of the L-shaped building complex. In addition to the retail areas, the interior fit-out of 42 service apartments for the hotel group JustStay in staggered building sections on the upper floor is progressing.
Jan Lerke, Managing Director of the FIM Unternehmensgruppe, emphasised that with the opening of EDEKA and Lidl, local supply is secured for the long term and the development and attractiveness of the site will be sustainably strengthened. He explained that the building and the modern sales areas meet the requirements of the operators and their customers, and that local supply for the residents of Hirschaid will be consolidated in one location.
Planning for the Second Construction Phase
The second construction phase of the Hirschaid Retail Park is scheduled for autumn 2026. Demolition work on the existing Lidl supermarket on Industriestraße is planned for this autumn. Subsequently, construction is scheduled to begin on another building, which will include a dm drugstore on the ground floor and 46 additional apartments on the upper floor. The commissioning of electric charging stations is planned simultaneously with the opening of the drugstore. Finally, the new JustStay hotel will be inaugurated. DGNB Gold certification is being sought for the overall project.
