ParkProperty Europe has successfully completed the first construction phase of GreenWorkPark Grünheide. The completion and handover of a primary school to the municipality of Grünheide took place on 6 August this year, marking the scheduled conclusion of the initial phase. GreenWorkPark Grünheide is being developed as a multi-use business park on a 40-hectare brownfield site on the outskirts of Berlin, aiming to combine economic use, sustainable infrastructure, and educational facilities.
The school building represents the first realised building project within the overall area. It will commence operations punctually for the 2026/2027 school year. Following a construction period of merely 14 months, a new branch of the Gerhart-Hauptmann-Grundschule Grünheide (Mark) was created, comprising twelve classrooms and 200 after-school care places for a total of 300 pupils.
Mayor Arne Christiani emphasised the importance of the timely realisation: “With the completion and handover of the new Gerhart-Hauptmann-Grundschule, we are not only gaining much-needed school premises but also a modern learning environment for the children of our municipality.” He positively highlighted the swift implementation by ParkProperty Europe, which enables the planned school operation from the 2026/2027 school year.
Significance for Site Development
Serkan Aydemir, Director Industrial at ParkProperty Europe, underlined the primary school’s central role in GreenWorkPark's development concept. He noted that the project creates an educational offering at an early stage, thereby strengthening the site's attractiveness for companies and employees alike. This illustrates the approach of considering commercial development not in isolation, but in the context of social and communal requirements.
According to Antonia Strasser, Development Manager at ParkProperty Europe, the successful handover of the primary school is attributable to intensive and trusting collaboration. She explained that the solution-oriented and partnership-based exchange between ParkProperty Europe's internal teams and the municipality of Grünheide formed the basis for the successful implementation of this initial project.
