The General Assembly of the German Holiday Home Association (DFV) unanimously confirmed its board in office for the next two years in Berlin on 24 September 2026. This decision underscores the trust in the existing leadership, which must address the challenges of an increasingly complex market environment in the short-term rental sector. The confirmation took place within the framework of the statutory meeting, which sets the course for the association's strategic direction in the coming periods.
Göran Holst, Managing Director of Travanto Ferienwohnungen, remains at the helm of the association. Holst, who has led the association since 2020 and is one of its founding members, will continue to guide the DFV's fortunes. The deputy chairpersons were also re-elected: Magdalena Lexa, Managing Director of OBS OnlineBuchungService GmbH; Solveig Mayer, Senior Director Government & Corporate Affairs at Expedia Group/FeWo-direkt; Dr Bodo Thielmann, Chief Investment Advisor at HomeToGo SE; and Christine Beyer, Managing Director of Traumdomizil Usedom. This continuity in leadership ensures the continued pursuit of the association's previous objectives.
A new appointment was made for the position of Treasurer. Holger Reinhart takes on this role. Mr Reinhart also works in the DFV's administrative office and operates the holiday home rental business Ostsee-Urlaub-Hund.de. His dual role within the association and in operational holiday home rental brings a valuable perspective to the DFV's financial matters.
Challenges and Tasks of the Association
Chairman Holst commented on the current market environment and the association's future tasks. He emphasised that, in view of growing EU initiatives and the associated requirements and obligations, bundling industry interests and representing them with a coherent voice is of crucial importance. The association sees itself as a mouthpiece for short-term rentals and plans to actively shape the future of the holiday home industry. A central pillar of the association's work is providing members with information on regulatory developments, their practical implications, and support for their implementation.
The German Holiday Home Association has almost 90 members, representing the entire spectrum of the industry. These include private hosts, regional agencies, start-ups, service providers, and globally active intermediaries. This composition enables comprehensive representation of interests. The DFV acts as an important link and networker between the industry, politics, and the public. It promotes exchange and coordination among relevant stakeholders.
Focus on Relevant Legislation
On the agenda of the re-elected board are several relevant legislative projects that have a direct impact on the short-term rental industry. These legal frameworks require precise monitoring and active influence from the association. Knowledge and analysis of these laws are essential for the future viability of the industry.
- —Affordable Housing Act
- —Short-term Rental Ordinance
- —Platform Tax Transparency Act
