A new golf club is set to open in Brooklyn's Dumbo neighbourhood. The Gowanus Golf Club, a Brooklyn-based chain of private indoor golf clubs, has leased approximately 6,000 square feet along Dumbo's waterfront at 215 Water Street. The property is located in a five-storey mixed-use building spanning between Bridge Street and Jay Street.
The building is owned by Pearl Realty Management. Corey Cohen, Principal of the Roebling Team at Compass, represented both the landlord and the tenant in this transaction. The lease term was not disclosed. The asking rent was $100 per square foot.
Strategic Expansion in Dumbo
Cohen explained the choice of location in a statement: "The continued growth of Dumbo's residential population, especially in the luxury segment, has created a natural audience for high-end, membership-based concepts." He added that the Gowanus Golf Club was seeking both the physical space for its comprehensive offering and a neighbourhood with the necessary density and year-round activity to support it. These requirements were met at 215 Water Street.
The new golf club is scheduled to open its doors in mid-September. It will provide a variety of facilities for its members. This includes simulator bays for realistic golf play, a lounge for members to relax in, a dedicated putting area to improve short game, and fitness equipment to complement the athletic offerings. Furthermore, the club will offer a workshop for repairs and wellness rooms. In addition to daily operations, league and tournament events are planned, as is professional golf instruction to foster members' skills.
Offering and Community
This agreement marks a new branch for the Gowanus Golf Club, which already operates two existing locations in Brooklyn: one at 124 Ninth Street in Gowanus and another at 646 Dean Street in Prospect Heights. Jordan Colina, founder of the Gowanus Golf Club, stated in a declaration: "Our goal is to create a private members' club where golfers can improve their game, meet other players, and enjoy high-quality amenities in a welcoming environment. Dumbo's vibrant community was an easy choice for the next addition to our network of locations, and we look forward to welcoming members soon."
Other tenants in the 215 Water Street building include toy manufacturer Little Poland Gallery and electronics store VMN & Company.
