The WILMA real estate group has commenced preparatory site works for a new neighbourhood in the Lank-Latum district of Meerbusch. Under the project name LEBENSWERT LANK, a mixed residential development comprising a total of 30 single-family houses and 68 flats is being created on Uerdinger Strasse. The urban planning concept combines multi-storey apartment buildings along the street frontage with more loosely arranged groups of houses to the rear of the site.
Implementation begins with extensive site development and infrastructure works across the plot. Construction of the first ten semi-detached houses will start immediately afterwards. This initial phase is situated in the rear section of the quarter and will be accessed by road via Gelleper Strasse. A dedicated pathway network reserved exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists will link the rear plots with the apartment buildings and terraced houses along Uerdinger Strasse.
Energy efficiency to the Effizienzhaus 40 standard
All buildings within the scheme will be constructed to the demanding Effizienzhaus 40 standard (EH 40). The building services concept relies entirely on renewable energy sources. Modern air-source heat pumps will be deployed for heating and hot water preparation. In addition, the development will be equipped with photovoltaic systems and battery storage units, enabling a substantial proportion of electricity demand to be generated and used directly on site.
- —Construction of 68 flats across five apartment buildings
- —New build of 30 single-family houses in the form of terraced and semi-detached homes
- —Heat supply via air-source heat pumps combined with photovoltaics and battery storage
- —Consistent delivery of the Effizienzhaus 40 standard across the entire quarter
Jochen Siemes, regional manager and authorised signatory at WILMA, attributes the swift start of construction to encouraging market demand. He notes that the combination of the EH 40 standard and renewable energy is proving to be a decisive criterion for owner-occupiers and investors alike. A large proportion of units in the first phase has already been sold, with buyers including families from Meerbusch scheduled to move in by the end of next year.
Further construction phases through to 2027
The completion of the first ten houses represents only the opening stage of the overall scheme. The sales and construction programme is scheduled to expand in early 2027. At that point, work will commence on the five apartment buildings comprising the 68 flats, along with the remaining terraced houses and additional semi-detached homes on Uerdinger Strasse.
