The renowned actress Helen Mirren, an Academy Award laureate, and her husband, director Taylor Hackford, intend to sell their Hollywood Hills estate for USD 12.995 million following extensive renovations. The couple acquired the 6.58-acre property in 1986 and dedicated almost four decades to meticulously restoring its historic 'Old Hollywood' character, while simultaneously incorporating thoughtful modern updates.
Recent enhancements include significant improvements to the landscaping and interior design, with staging by Vesta Home aiming to honour the estate's history. The property, originally built in 1911 for silent film star Dustin Farnum and concealed behind gates above the Sunset Strip, served as Mirren and Hackford's private residence in Los Angeles for much of their careers.
Estate Details
Access to Mirren and Hackford's estate is through private gates, beyond which a quarter-mile-long driveway winds uphill through tall trees and dense vegetation. The driveway leads to a spacious forecourt in front of the white stucco residence, with its black shutters, wrought-iron details, and Mediterranean style, reflecting its 'Old Hollywood' heritage. The main entrance is flanked by a brick staircase and large planters, creating an inviting impression. Inside, the house opens into a bright foyer where an elegantly curved staircase leads to the first floor, illuminated by a stylish crystal chandelier.
