An affiliate of Hyatt has concluded a franchise agreement with an affiliate of CL Capital for the Oxford Witney Hotel. This venture marks the debut of the JdV by Hyatt brand in the United Kingdom. The hotel, which will feature 130 rooms, is expected to be integrated into the brand portfolio by the end of 2026 and will be operated by InnPractice.
The Oxford Witney Hotel is located in Witney, approximately 24 kilometres west of Oxford and in close proximity to the Cotswolds. The location offers guests a short journey to Witney’s historic centre, as well as excellent accessibility to the university city of Oxford and the entire Cotswolds region. The property is currently undergoing a comprehensive redesign, which aims to reflect the regional character and cultural heritage.
The hotel’s concept is designed to embrace Witney’s local identity. This is manifested in the interior design, which is shaped by the region’s traditional wool production, the artisanal spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement, and a distinct sense of local identity. The goal is to create an upscale lifestyle hotel that introduces its guests to the local community and the specific character of Witney and the surrounding Oxfordshire region and the Cotswolds.
In addition to the 130 guest rooms, a restaurant and a bar are planned, which will source products from local suppliers. Approximately 112 square metres of flexible meeting and event space for up to 90 people will also be available. The hotel is designed as a base for exploring Oxfordshire. Guests can, among other things, explore Witney market, local shops and eateries, or attend cultural events at the “Corn Exchange”. Cogges Manor Farm, known as a filming location for the series Downton Abbey, is also nearby. Nature-loving guests can follow the River Windrush or take excursions to Oxford, Blenheim Palace, Minster Lovell Hall, and the surrounding Cotswolds.
Anna Corkill, RVP Development UK & Ireland at Hyatt, described the introduction of the JdV by Hyatt brand in the United Kingdom as a significant milestone, excellently suited to Witney, a destination with a strong identity and distinct sense of place. She emphasised that, in collaboration with CL Capital and InnPractice, a hotel would be created that reflects the character of the local community and offers guests a unique opportunity to experience Oxfordshire. Graham Norris, Managing Partner at InnPractice, added that the Oxford Witney Hotel represents a compelling setting for the brand’s debut, as it is a market town with character and its own identity, possessing strong links to Oxford and the Cotswolds, and having the potential for integration into the local social fabric.
InnPractice has been commissioned by CL Capital with the operational management of the hotel following its transition to the JdV by Hyatt brand. The company specialises in establishing successful hotel businesses in cooperation with hotel owners, investors, and global brands through operational leadership, commercial expertise, and a network of specialised partners. Further details on the hotel’s final opening will be published as the project progresses.
