Michael Phelps' former villa in Paradise Valley has reappeared on the market, listed for US$6.495 million. This marks the property's first listing since the Olympic legend sold the estate. Phelps acquired the house in 2015 for US$2.5 million when he was serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Arizona State University swimming and diving team. In 2018, he sold it for US$3.5 million to Nevada-based Allegro Ventures.

The residence was custom-built by Henry Mohrschladt in collaboration with Craig Banner of American Tradition Builders. It combines Santa Barbara-inspired architecture with materials specifically chosen for the Arizona environment. A paved pathway leads through the front garden to a circular fountain courtyard, surrounded by hedges and flowering plants.

Decorative gates open onto a patio that extends under deep overhangs and arched openings. The entrance is beneath a rounded stucco arch, where a curved timber-and-glass front door greets visitors. Inside, the house opens into a double-sided great room located to the right of the entrance. Here, the formal living and dining areas are separated by a two-sided European stone fireplace.

Exquisite Living Areas and High-Quality Fittings

On one side, the formal living room extends beneath a vaulted ceiling intersected by dark, exposed beams. Imported hardwood flooring lies beneath a seating area arranged around the fireplace. French doors line the wall, allowing natural light to enter and connecting the room with the front patio. The opposite side opens into the formal dining room, where the same hardwood flooring and panelled lower walls continue beneath a designer chandelier and a dining table set for eight. Dark floral wallpaper rises above the woodwork, while glass doors at the far end lead to a wine room.

The path to the kitchen leads from the formal dining room through a butler's pantry, equipped on both sides with white cabinetry, glass-fronted upper cabinets, dark stone worktops, an additional sink, and further preparation and storage space. The pantry then opens into the fully equipped kitchen, where an oversized stone-topped island is positioned beneath a detailed coffered ceiling with integrated skylights. Opposite a built-in breakfast nook, the central island features bar stools on one side and a deep farmhouse sink on the other.

White cabinets surround the kitchen walls, including a professional range cooker, an oversized stainless steel refrigerator, and other built-in appliances. Directly opposite the kitchen, the family room continues in the same open-plan layout, where two seating areas are arranged around a stone fireplace and a mounted television. French doors along the back wall open onto the pool terrace, while additional windows offer views of the outdoor areas.

Private Suites and Outdoor Amenities

Down the hallway, the main suite combines a large bedroom with direct outdoor access, a generous en suite bathroom, and a fully fitted walk-in wardrobe. The bedroom is organised around a tall, upholstered bed positioned against a dark, textured accent wall. Opposite, a separate seating area is located near a white fireplace. French doors open from both sides of the room to the outside, providing direct access to a private courtyard and the garden.

The bathroom, located directly next to the bedroom, features a significantly brighter colour palette, with marble and white stone on the floors, lower walls, and worktops. A freestanding bathtub is positioned beneath the windows, with matching vanity units extending along opposite sides of the room. Around the corner, the bathroom expands into a narrow hallway that includes a separate WC and a glass-enclosed shower with a waterfall showerhead. Beyond the bathroom, the suite concludes with a large walk-in wardrobe, equipped with bespoke white shelving, drawers, and hanging rails.
