An extensive "Home of Mobility" is being realised at the traditional motorsport venue of Hockenheimring. The project, known as Motorworld Hockenheimring, comprises a usable area of over 28,500 m² and unites diverse functional areas, including retail, workshops, service providers, business premises, hotels, gastronomy, events, and aspects of mobility, all under one roof. The Hockenheimring location, which hosts over 600 events annually with approximately 700,000 guests, is being expanded into a European mobility and event hub through the Motorworld experience world.
Behind the development is the Motorworld Group, an experienced player in the field of mobility and experience destinations. The company brings over 40 renowned vehicle manufacturers and brands into the concept. Andreas Dünkel, founder and chairman of the Motorworld Group, describes Motorworld Hockenheimring as a significant undertaking for the corporate group. He emphasises the international recognition and emotional appeal of the Hockenheimring and sees the new combination as a centre of excellence for premium brands and high-quality services, which will provide important impetus.
Jochen Nerpel, Managing Director of Hockenheim-Ring GmbH, adds that Motorworld is a milestone for the long-term further development of the Hockenheimring. He points out that the cooperation combines the expertise and networks of both established brands and generates a forward-looking offering designed to attract new target groups. Together, new experience, event, retail, business, and hospitality formats will emerge, revitalising the Hockenheimring year-round and strengthening its significance as an international destination.
Location Factors and Usage Concepts
The location benefits from its position in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region and its connection to Germany's economic centres. Proximity to the A5 and A6 motorways, as well as Frankfurt and Stuttgart airports, positions Motorworld Hockenheimring as a central meeting point for visitors, businesses, and brands. Since its opening in 1932, the Hockenheimring has evolved from a motorcycle track into an internationally renowned experience and meeting place, which now gains a further dimension through Motorworld.
The concept of Motorworld Hockenheimring is based on combining a race track, mobility centre, experience destination, retail spaces, and hospitality offerings. This integrated approach creates a mobility and event hub that brings together brands, businesses, and service providers to generate synergies. Over 8,000 m² of retail, showroom, and workshop spaces are planned, where dealers will present collector vehicles, classics, supercars, hypercars, and motorcycles. This is complemented by accessories, clothing, lifestyle products, and specialised service providers for vehicle preparation, refinement, care, maintenance, and high-performance solutions.
Another feature is 64 glass display boxes, extending over several levels, which provide secure storage and exclusive presentation of vehicles. These boxes are accessible to owners at all times and offer a stage for automotive rarities. Furthermore, a new restaurant with over 200 seats and a coffee bar overlooking the start-finish straight will expand the gastronomic offerings. A four-star themed and design hotel will complete the overall offering of the location.
