The New York Slice Club (NYSC) held its pre-opening yesterday evening in Hamburg's Alsterarkaden, attracting a high frequency of visitors. Approximately 120 invited guests attended the event, with about 600 slices of pizza distributed within a two-hour period. The ordering processes, handled via electronic terminals, operated with split-second precision, demonstrating the efficiency of operations under full load. The premises of the shop and the outdoor area on the Kleiner Alster were continuously busy.
The concept of the slice shop, designed for the quick consumption of individual pizza slices, was comprehensively evaluated during the pre-opening. The product range included various options, among them the Pepperhoney Slice, a truffle option, the vegetarian Burrata Slice, and a vegan salami pizza, which proved to be particularly in demand. Complementing the main offerings, three tiramisu variations, New York-style cookies, and the Chocolate Salted Caramel Cake were available, all of which sold out by the end of the event.
The band Oswald provided musical accompaniment for the evening with melodic techno, contributing to the atmosphere on the terrace. Behind the scenes, various suppliers and development partners were present, including the flour experts from Farina Petra in Northern Italy. In collaboration with the NYSC team, they had developed a special flour blend from five different varieties. The preparation of the sourdoughs for regular operation involves three different dough variants, which are kneaded together in a two-day process and then fermented for 48 hours.
Nicolas Rux, Managing Director of the New York Slice Club, commented on the opening night's proceedings. He emphasised that the high turnout represented a test for the team, requiring all operational processes to function smoothly. The positive feedback from guests was seen as confirmation of the concept. Following this successful launch, the New York Slice Club is now prepared for regular operation in Hamburg.
The establishment of the New York Slice Club in the Alsterarkaden underscores the attractiveness of this inner-city Hamburg location for gastronomic concepts. The combination of an established product such as pizza and a modern sales format designed for quick availability appeals to a broad target group. The strategic integration of specialised partners like Farina Petra demonstrates the commitment to product quality and authenticity, which is relevant for sustainable market positioning.
