Greystar, an internationally active company focused on investment, development, and management of rental housing, has appointed Michael Stapf as Managing Director Development Germany & Austria. Mr. Stapf, a real estate developer with over 25 years of industry experience, will take responsibility for the company's development pipeline in both countries. His primary tasks include the implementation of existing projects, the initiation of new ventures, and the expansion of the network with regional partners. His appointment comes during a significant growth phase for Greystar.

In close collaboration with the investment and operations teams, Michael Stapf will drive the development of new projects in Germany and Austria. He will ensure that operational and leasing aspects are an integral part of the planning from the outset. Mr. Stapf joins from LBBW Immobilien Development GmbH, where he was co-responsible for the further development of the project portfolio as Managing Director. Previously, he served as Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director of International Campus, where he led investment and development activities in Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, and the Czech Republic. During this time, acquisitions totalling several thousand residential units were realised. Prior to his tenure at International Campus, Mr. Stapf worked for Groß & Partner for 18 years, most recently as a member of the management board.

Mark Kuijpers, Senior Managing Director Central Europe at Greystar, highlighted that there is an urgent need for new rental housing in Germany and that the market represents a long-term investment opportunity for the company. Greystar has already initiated numerous projects in cooperation with local partners. Following the successful completion of fundraising for its latest pan-European residential real estate fund, further capital is available for investment. Mr. Kuijpers emphasised that Michael Stapf brings many years of experience in project development and profound knowledge of the German market. His expertise will support Greystar in identifying new projects and expanding its business activities in Germany.

Michael Stapf commented that Germany and Austria require additional housing. At the same time, project planning is becoming increasingly complex to ensure both economic viability and successful realisation. He was convinced by Greystar's long-term investment strategy, its own development capabilities, and the professional operation of its properties, which enables the successful implementation of demanding projects. He intends to consistently advance ongoing projects and identify new locations for the creation of urgently needed rental housing, together with the team and local partners.

Greystar is expanding in Germany, primarily in Berlin. In cooperation with local partners, the company is developing several large-scale residential projects there. Under the PRIMUS brand, Greystar plans four projects with a total of approximately 1,400 residential units, spread across the Berlin districts of Pankow, Charlottenburg, Kreuzberg, and Prenzlauer Berg. In Berlin-Marzahn, a project with 428 residential units is being developed together with Ten Brinke. The Quartier Momento Berlin in Neukölln, one of Greystar's largest German residential projects to date, has already been completed. It comprises 14 buildings with various apartment types, professional services, and communal areas for residents.
