lecta's ill-fated real estate investment in Heimstaden Bostad could have been halted six years ago, according to recent media reports. In 2018, a law firm sounded the alarm about investing further in the company, but its warning never reached Alecta's finance committee.

    The current CEO of Alecta, Peder Hasslev, has acknowledged that the investment was mishandled. Sources close to the pension giant have revealed that a warning against Heimstaden Bostad was ignored by top executives at Alecta in 2018.
