*2025 State of Asia America Report – AREAA & REMAX**
The latest State of Asia America Report, released by the Asian Real Estate Association of America (AREAA) and sponsored by REMAX, examines how recent climate disasters are reshaping the lives of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities. From floods to wildfires, natural catastrophes have struck U.S. neighborhoods, threatening the stability of homes and the sense of security that homeownership provides.
    **Key Findings**
    - **Rising Disaster Frequency**: Climate‑related events have surged 83 % since 1980, with 27 billion‑dollar disasters recorded in 2024 alone.
    - **Impact on AANHPI Homes**: The 2023 Lahaina wildfires on Maui destroyed over 2,000 structures, most of them residences. In 2025, the Eaton fires in Los Angeles demolished more than 16,000 buildings, leaving over 12,000 AANHPI residents without timely, multilingual emergency alerts.
    - **Rebuilding Challenges**: Re‑construction costs are climbing, and more than 60 % of AANHPI homeowners depend on mortgages to own their homes. Gaps in mortgage and insurance literacy further expose families to financial instability when disasters strike.
    **Community Resilience**
Despite these hurdles, the report highlights stories of solidarity. AANHPI residents across the country have stepped up to provide free childcare for displaced families, preserve cultural practices in rebuilding plans, and support one another through shared resources. These acts underscore the importance of community cohesion and compassionate leadership in recovery efforts.
    **AREAA’s Mission & REMAX Partnership**
Since 2003, AREAA has championed sustainable homeownership for AANHPI communities by compiling data on barriers and opportunities. REMAX, whose core values align with expanding homeownership access, has long supported AREAA. “We’re proud to sponsor the State of Asia America Report because it offers the most comprehensive Asian American and Pacific Islander real‑estate, demographic, and economic data available,” says Abby Lee, Executive Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Events at RE/MAX Holdings.
    **Call to Action**
The report calls for enhanced climate resilience, improved access to in‑language emergency information, and greater financial education around mortgages and insurance. By addressing these gaps, agents, policymakers, and community leaders can better safeguard AANHPI homeowners against future disasters.
