f you're tired of city life but can't quite adjust to rural living, a small city might be just what you need. A third of Americans prefer suburbs over big cities, and it's not hard to see why: the cost of housing and other expenses is often lower in smaller towns.
WalletHub has analyzed 1,318 small cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000, ranking them based on affordability, economic health, education and health, safety, and quality of life. According to their survey, moving from a big city to a small one can significantly reduce your cost of living.
Small cities also offer a smoother commute than urban metros, making it easier to achieve a better work-life balance. With fewer residents and less congestion, travel within these cities is more convenient.
