eff Bezos, the world's second-richest man, has amassed a vast collection of private homes across the country. His real estate empire spans some of the most coveted locales in the US, including Maui, Beverly Hills, and Washington D.C. The Amazon founder's latest acquisition is a $90 million waterfront property on Miami's Indian Creek Island, which he shares with his partner Lauren Sánchez.
Bezos's appetite for exceptional properties extends beyond land to the high seas. His $500 million sailing yacht, Koru, and its support vessel Abeona, valued at $75 million, are part of his impressive collection. Bezos has been quietly building a significant footprint on Indian Creek Island since mid-2023, acquiring three lavish waterfront estates for a total of $234 million.
The billionaire's first purchase on the island was a $68 million fixer-upper estate in late June 2023. The property features an L-shaped modernist mansion with 9,259 square feet of living space and a pool and dock. Just a few months later, Bezos bought an adjacent estate for $79 million, which boasts Mediterranean grandeur with seven bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, and richly appointed interiors.
In June 2024, Bezos expanded his Indian Creek Island holdings with an $87 million off-market deal for a 12,000-square-foot abode with six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. The property features a guesthouse, resort-worthy swimming pool, and manicured grounds.
Bezos's real estate portfolio also includes several high-profile properties in Beverly Hills, where he made headlines in 2020 with two record-breaking buys. His larger estate, acquired for $165 million, spans 10 acres and features an epic Georgian-style mansion with eight bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and a nine-hole golf course.
In Washington D.C., Bezos purchased the former Textile Museum in 2016 for $23 million. He later bought the house across the street for $5 million, reportedly for privacy and security reasons. In Medina, Washington, Bezos has maintained a significant presence since the late 1990s, owning multiple properties including a 25,460-square-foot La Haye mansion.
Bezos also maintains a foothold in New York City, where he has owned several apartments at the Century on Central Park West since the late 1990s. In 2019, he set his sights downtown, purchasing a three-story penthouse and two additional floors at 212 Fifth Avenue for $81 million.
In Hawaii, Bezos purchased a $78 million compound on Maui, setting a new record for the priciest home on the island. The secluded property spans 14 acres along La Perouse Bay and features multiple buildings, including a 4,500-square-foot main house and a guest house.
