arol Szynaka, a renowned real estate broker and manager with Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty on the North Fork, passed away on December 30, 2024, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson after battling brain cancer for just three months. She was 62 years old.

    Szynaka was remembered as a trailblazer in the real estate industry, known for her professionalism, integrity, and dedication to her clients and colleagues. As an associate broker, she secured over $380 million in sales, including $80 million in bayfront property transactions, making her one of the top agents on Long Island.

    As a manager, Szynaka provided invaluable leadership and mentorship to many agents, including Mariah J. Mills, who credits Szynaka with teaching her not just about real estate but also how to lead with integrity and confidence. William Walters, another agent, described Szynaka as a second mother and mentor who saw potential in him and helped him build a successful 10-year career.

    Szynaka's legacy extends beyond her impressive sales record and leadership skills. She was known for sharing her expertise and connecting with people on a personal level, making her a beloved figure in the real estate community. Her sister, Maggie Russo, recalled that Szynaka loved working with clients and enjoyed the challenge of real estate.

    Szynaka's impact on her colleagues and clients is immeasurable. Erica Kelly, an agent at Daniel Gale's Mattituck office, credits Szynaka with inspiring her to become a successful real estate agent and believes that Szynaka's legacy will be the way she helped individuals achieve their true potential.

    Szynaka is survived by her children, Olivia and Sean; sisters Mary Ellen Spillane and Maggie Russo; brother-in-law Richard; nephew Jack; and niece Annie. A memorial visitation was held on January 2 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck, followed by a funeral Mass on January 3 at St. Patrick's Church in Southold. Memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
