A
former controller for the Hammocks homeowners association has been charged in connection with an alleged massive fraud scheme. Jesus Cue allegedly helped facilitate the scheme by creating a limited liability company in the name of Dante Chauca, husband of former board member Monica Ghilardi. Through this entity, Albri Consulting LLC, former board members were able to siphon money from HOA coffers into their own pockets.
Cue's arrest warrant alleges that he created Albri at Gallego's request and that the company received $291,681 from the HOA between 2020 and 2022. Cue faces charges of unlawful compensation, racketeering, money laundering, grand theft, and organized scheme to defraud, among others.
This is not the first time Cue's connection to the Hammocks has been investigated. A civil suit was filed against him last year by David Gersten, the former receiver who now serves as monitor for the HOA. The complaint made similar allegations of misappropriation of funds. Cue and his accounting firm settled the suit for $50,000.
Cue's attorney maintains that he committed no wrongdoing and will be vindicated once the evidence is reviewed. As controller, Cue also served as a business consultant to the HOA from 2018 to 2022, earning $644,000 in fees. Prosecutors say that Cue helped Gallego circumvent state law by creating Albri, which allowed Ghilardi to receive compensation for her work on the board.
Cue's arrest comes after prosecutors charged Ivan Dario Diez, Gallego's uncle, with posing as a vendor and collecting payments from the HOA without completing any work.
