eal estate developer Steve Witkoff was playing golf with former President Donald Trump at his West Palm Beach course when an apparent assassination attempt occurred. Witkoff reportedly described the incident to Fox News host Sean Hannity, according to the Los Angeles Times.

    Witkoff shared that after the incident, Trump approached Secret Service agents and thanked them for their protection. The suspected gunman, Ryan Routh, was detained after fleeing the scene.

    Witkoff has a long-standing friendship with Trump, having attended The Breakers in Palm Beach this winter for his son's wedding to model Melissa Cuc. Alex's brother had previously been married at Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate.

    Witkoff also played a role in helping Trump reconcile with his political adversary, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. In April, Trump praised Witkoff on social media for facilitating a "great meeting."

    At the Republican National Convention in July, Witkoff spoke about Trump's human side, discussing how he supported Witkoff after one of his sons died from an opioid overdose.

    Witkoff's involvement in real estate development in South Florida has led to collaborations with other prominent figures in the industry, such as Peebles and Trump.

    The incident at Mar-a-Lago resulted in road closures, affecting access to nearby luxury listings in the area.

    Witkoff has been a vocal supporter of Trump, donating a total of $273,200 to his individual presidential campaign and three political action committees last year, according to federal campaign finance records.
