Exclusive video shows Grand Prairie Councilman allegedly assaulting real estate broker

For the first time, we're seeing video that shows a Grand Prairie city councilman allegedly punching a 60-year-old man and breaking his phone during an unprovoked attack. The victim, David Collantes, is speaking out for the first time about the incident.

Collantes, a real estate broker from Austin, was showing property to a client in April when he encountered Councilman Mike Del Bosque outside a medical office building on Carrier Parkway. According to Collantes, Del Bosque didn't want him showing the property and took it out on him in a violent assault.

Security camera video obtained by CBS News Texas shows Del Bosque approaching Collantes and taking him to the ground. The victim's phone was smashed, and he was trying to grab his wallet. Del Bosque was arrested days later and charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief.

Collantes believes the video proves Del Bosque is unfit to continue serving on the city council while the case is pending. "It's a bit shocking that a public figure would use their authority to abuse power," he said.

Del Bosque declined to comment, but his attorney claimed Collantes had entered Del Bosque's private business through a back door and confronted employees before the confrontation with Del Bosque.

The Dallas County DA insists that Del Bosque's position of power will not impact his prosecution. The case is ongoing, and Collantes hopes for justice. "I want the public to know that this man is a menace to society," he said.
