Heirs of deceased high-profile lawyer sell Miami waterfront estate for $28 million

Prominent Attorney's Family Sells Waterfront Home for $27.5 Million in Off-Market Deal.

A
prominent Miami Beach family has offloaded a waterfront Venetian Islands estate for $27.5 million in an off-market deal, as the local market heats up ahead of the winter season. The 5,200-square-foot property at 50 West Dilido Drive was sold by the children of late attorney Daniel Heller to KC Property Holdings Land Trust, with the true buyer remaining unknown.

The listing agent, Nancy Batchelor of Compass, confirmed that Karen Stauber of the Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker Realty brought the buyer. Daniel Heller was a well-known Miami Beach attorney who served as general counsel to the Miami News and represented Bettina Batchelor in her divorce from George Batchelor. Realtor Nancy Batchelor is married to Jonathan Batchelor, son of the late Bettina and George.

Built in 1931 on a half-acre, the property spans four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and features a pool. Sources suggest it's likely a teardown due to its age and size. The Venetian Islands have attracted wealthy tech buyers in recent years, with notable sales including Jim Goetz's $7.6 million home adjacent to his $22 million waterfront mansion.

The market for teardowns and land in the area has been slower, with buyers preferring newly constructed, turnkey homes. However, a European buyer recently paid $23.9 million for a waterfront spec home designed by Max Strang, while James Curnin's Clara Homes sold an unfinished waterfront spec house for $23.1 million.
