T
he Cliffs, a 32,785-square-foot estate in McLean, has changed hands for $25.5 million, making it the priciest transaction of the year. Located on Bulls Neck Road and boasting panoramic views of the Potomac River, the property was built in 2022 and first listed for $39 million.
The house features a kitchen designed by chef José Andrés, a garage that doubles as a ballroom or possibly even a triple-purpose space, and can accommodate up to 22 cars. The estate also includes eight bedrooms, 10 full baths, and five half-baths, along with an indoor basketball court, yoga room, and multiple swimming pools.
The buyer, represented by Samer Kuraishi of The One Street Co., wished to remain anonymous. The property was originally built for Roger Mody, a partner at Monumental Sports and Entertainment, who decided to sell after eight years due to becoming empty-nesters.
Mark Lowham of TTR Sotheby's International Realty notes that the sale "portends some pretty significant activity in that top sector of the market" before the end of the year or early 2025. He predicts at least a couple more high-end sales in the region, with the current record holder being Dan Snyder and his wife, Tanya, who paid $48 million for their River View estate in Fairfax County in 2021.
