Mahesh Babu Embroiled in Rs 34 Lakh Real Estate Scam Investigation

Mahesh Babu named as third respondent, accused of influencing buyers with public endorsement.

M
ahesh Babu, a prominent Tollywood actor, has been served with legal notices by the Ranga Reddy District Consumer Commission in Telangana. The commission is investigating Sai Surya Developers, a real estate firm he endorsed, which faces allegations of fraud. A Hyderabad-based doctor claims to have lost Rs 34.8 lakh after buying plots that allegedly didn't exist.

The complaint names Mahesh Babu as the third respondent, stating his public endorsement influenced potential buyers. This is not the first time he's linked to the company; in April 2025, the Enforcement Directorate questioned him about a money laundering probe involving Sai Surya Developers and the Surana Group. The company's owner, Kancharla Satish Chandra Gupta, is under investigation for defaulting on a major project called "Green Meadows."

The earlier ED investigation suggested Mahesh Babu wasn't being treated as an accused and may have endorsed the project in good faith. However, the current consumer commission notice raises questions about his role as a brand ambassador. The actor's team has yet to respond to reports of the fresh notice.
