he National Association of Realtors has appointed a new general counsel and senior vice president of legal, Jonathan Waclawski. He previously worked at the organization from 2017-2022 and will lead the division that was left vacant by Katie Johnson's departure in October after 17 years with NAR.
Waclawski's appointment comes as the association navigates significant industry change. His LinkedIn announcement on February 28 marked his return to the national association, where he previously served as a political law attorney and vice president of political advocacy. He will oversee the division that was prioritizing business continuity after Johnson's departure.
In addition to his experience at NAR, Waclawski has held various politically oriented legal roles, including general counsel for former Wisconsin governor Scott Walker's presidential campaign in 2016 and associate counsel for the Republican National Committee. His appointment follows a tumultuous period for the organization, marked by commissions-related litigation, policy changes, and lawsuits related to sexual harassment and discrimination allegations that put a spotlight on NAR's culture.
