very Addison, a woman who pays $3,200 a month for her New York City studio apartment in the West Village, has taken to TikTok to showcase one of its most unusual features: a kitchen that's so tiny it doesn't have room for an oven. The video, which has garnered over 1.7 million views, shows Addison standing in the cramped space, barely able to turn around.
Addison, who works in event production and has lived in the apartment for a year, admits that she was aware of the kitchen's limitations when she signed the lease. "I knew going into my search, I was going to have to sacrifice something – either location or square feet or amenities," she explained. Despite the lack of space, Addison says she loves her apartment and is willing to make do with its quirks.
The kitchen's small size has forced Addison to adopt new habits, such as using a cutting board that fits over the sink and relying on nearby restaurants for most of her meals. "I keep it really simple in the kitchen," she said. "There's no oven, so I don't have to worry about baking or cooking big meals."
Addison's video has sparked a mix of reactions online, with some people calling the kitchen "insane" and comparing it to an RV kitchen. However, Addison remains unapologetic about her living situation, saying that she values the apartment's location and amenities over its size. "When you have the best restaurants in the world at your doorstep, who really needs a kitchen?" she joked.
Realtor.com listings reveal that studio apartment rentals in the West Village currently range from $3,000 to $6,500 a month, with an average kitchen size of 80-200 square feet. Addison's tiny kitchen may be extreme, but it's not uncommon for Manhattan apartments to prioritize location over amenities.
