obson Homes plans to replace the 75-year-old Olivera Egg Ranch in San Jose with 25 single-family homes. The 2.7-acre ranch, which has been in operation since 1949, is currently in escrow for an undisclosed price and will close its store at the end of next month as the owner retires.
The new homes will range from 2,000 to 2,800 square feet and offer options for accessory dwelling units and two-car garages. According to city plans, up to five homes could include granny flats, while 21 would have two stories and four would have two and a half stories.
Robson Homes, founded in 1989 by Mark Robson, is one of the largest home builders in Silicon Valley, with an average closing price of $3.2 million last year. The company's plans for the Olivera Egg Ranch site are part of a larger trend of replacing agricultural land and orchards with housing developments in San Jose.
