ndustry consultant Jack Miller discusses the Opportunity Report on the Real Estate Insiders Unfiltered podcast, highlighting key opportunities for the future. The report is a "grand strategy document" aimed at helping industry leaders identify valuable opportunities for their businesses. Miller notes that periods of change create opportunities and emphasizes the importance of moving forward rather than dwelling on past issues.
The alternative to embracing change is stagnation, according to Miller. He advises against blaming external factors like lawyers or NAR policies, instead encouraging leaders to focus on creating value from the current moment. The Opportunity Report identifies risks such as "marginal agents," which can harm the industry's reputation and are partly a result of inadequate training.
Miller also discusses commission structures and Clear Cooperation Policy (CCP), stating that decoupling commissions was a clear opportunity, while there was no consensus on the CCP. He notes that the industry will decide what to value and focus on, ultimately determining its success.
Regarding the relationship between MLSs and associations, Miller reports a consensus among industry leaders: the MLS should be a separate business data organization, with associations owning but not controlling it. This separation would allow the MLS to operate independently and make decisions based on business needs rather than association interests.
